Stone Close Tea Room & Guest House is Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Dent nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

A warm welcome greets you to this 17th century Grade II listed Tea Room which was once two separate cottages. Many of the features you see are original to retain the historical character and charm of the property.

Whether coming into the Tea Room for a morning coffee or staying with us in one of our three guest rooms, we want to make you feel as welcome as possible.

Our Ethos

Food is very special to us. Our emphasis has always been on good quality, well cooked local ingredients. We go out of our way to support local suppliers by using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients wherever possible. Our meat comes from Steadmans in Sedbergh where we are able to select locally reared produce. Our bacon is English dry cured back and our chicken and eggs are always free-range. Powell’s of Sedbergh deliver our fruit and vegetables unless they come from our own allotment or garden here in Dent.  Our bread is from Seasons Bakery in Ingleton. Our tea comes from Farrer’s of  Kendal and Atkinson’s of Lancaster and our excellent coffee beans come from a small family business just North of the border.

Coming from a nutritional background our menu reflects the needs of those who may require a little more choice. Gluten-free and dairy-free meals and cakes are always available - just mention your requirements and we will try to accommodate.

Our bit for the environment

We select local and often organic products as well as ensuring that any   essential packaging is recyclable. Anything that will decompose naturally is allowed to do so in one of our compost bins and used later on our garden or allotment. Glass, plastic and metal is recycled as is any waste paper that is not used to light the fires.

Lighting is selected to provide a warm colour temperature as well as being energy efficient. Finally all of the detergents, cleaning agents and soaps that are used by us at Stone Close are free from Phosphates.
